1) Install firmware "v2862_390_bond_MDM1.rst" or "v2862_390_bonding.rst" on the DrayTek 2862B.

This firmware was downloaded from the following location "https://www.draytek.nl/files/Vigor2862B_390.zip".

Note that within firmware "v2862_390_bond_MDM1.rst", the modem code with version "779517" is included.



2) In the "WAN >> General Setup" tab make the following settings.

- DSL Mode: "VDSL2 only".

- DSL Modem Code: "Default".

- VLAN Tag Insertion: "Enable" for VDSL2

- VLAN Tag Value" "6".



3) In the "WAN >> Internet Access" tab make the following settings.

- Pyhsical mode: "VDSL2" (should be green colored).

- Access Mode "PPPoE/PPPoA".



4) In the "WAN >> Internet Access >>> PPPoE/PPPoA" tab make the following settings.

ADSL Modem Settings

- Multi-PVC channel: "Channel 1".

- VPI: "8".

- VCI: "48".

- Encapsulating Type: "VC MUX".

- Protocol: "PPPoE".

- Modulation: "Multimode".

ISP Access Setup

- Username: "draytek@xs4all.nl".

- Password: "dummy".

- Service Name: .

- Separate Account for ADSL: .

Other fields

- WAN Connection Detection Mode: "PPP Detect".

- MTU: "1492".

- PPP/MP Setup PPP Authentication: "PAP Only".

- PPP/MP Setup IP Assignment (IPCP): "Dynamic".

- PPPoE Pass-through For Wired LAN: .



5) Open a terminal and connect to the DrayTek 2862B via telnet.

Alternatively the Web Console can be used for this from within the DrayTek GUI.

6) Set the VDSL options by executing the following commands.

DrayTek> vdsl optn default

DrayTek> vdsl optn retx us off

DrayTek> vdsl optn retx ds off



7) Check the settings by executing the following command.

DrayTek> vdsl optn status

 trellis      [US] =     ON, [DS] =     ON.

 bitswap      [US] =      0, [DS] =      0. 

              [0: default(ON), 1: ON, 2: OFF]

 sra          [US] =      0, [DS] =      0.

              [0: default(=3), 2: OFF, 3: ON , 4: DYNAMIC_SOS]

8) Optionally, modify the SNR margin by executing the following command.

DrayTek> vdsl snr 0



9) Save the settings by executing the following command.

DrayTek> vdsl savecfg



10) Reboot the DrayTek 2862B, via the tab "System Maintenance >> Reboot System".

- Choose the option "Using current configuration".



11) Check the connection status after 10 minutes (to allow for training), by executing the following command.



The following result was obtained using firmware "v2862_390_bond_MDM1.rst".

Note that the XS4ALL/KPN DSL modem brand is Broadcom with version 177.228.

12) In the end, I decided to use the standard "v2862_390_bonding.rst" firmware, because of the small performance differences.
